Smooth-Walled Tube for Industrial Applications

Smooth tubes can be adapted to specific technical requirements through the use of variable material combinations, spiral-wound tubes, functional strips, or custom fittings.

Tube systems with smooth inner and outer surfaces are used in many industrial sectors. They are particularly suitable for applications with high demands on media conveyance, cleanability, flexibility, or chemical resistance.

Depending on the application, material composition, wall thicknesses, surface properties, and functional elements can be individually tailored to technical requirements.

Smooth Tubes: Technical Specifications and Functional Components

Smooth tubes can be designed with a variety of technical functions and structural properties. Depending on the application, additional elements can be integrated to enhance stability, orientation, visibility, or specific functionalities.

The technical design is, of course, based on the specific requirements of the industrial application.

Possible Functional Designs

Tube Geometries and Functional Features of Smooth Tubes

Masterflex’s smooth-wall tube technology makes it possible to tailor the geometry, wall construction, and material selection specifically to technical requirements. Depending on the application, smooth-wall tube solutions can be designed to meet defined specifications regarding flexibility, stability, chemical resistance, and installation conditions.

In addition to standard geometries, application-specific designs are also possible, such as for special cross-sections, tight installation spaces, or precisely defined wall thicknesses. This allows smooth-wall tubes to be designed in such a way that they can be reliably integrated into various industrial applications.

Additionally, functional elements can be incorporated into the tube design, for example for identification, structural differentiation, or to support specific technical requirements. This results in smooth industrial tubes whose construction, material composition, and function are specifically tailored to the respective application.

Monolayer Tube

Single-layer smooth-bore tubes with a standard inner and outer geometry. The simple wall construction is suitable for applications where a standard functional cross-section is technically sufficient.

Multilayer Tube

Novoplast Schlauchtechnik multilayer tubing

Multi-layer tubes whose layers are extruded one after the other. They combine different material properties, even of otherwise incompatible materials (with an adhesion promoter layer if required). This results in inert, pressure-resistant or flexible layers, for example.

Multilumen Tube

Tubes with several separate channels. Each channel can carry its own medium or wire. Ideal for complex applications with separate functional paths - but can only be produced in sections.

Multiple Tube

Novoplast Schlauchtechnik offers quad tubing, which consists of four tubes bundled together.

Multiple tubes bundle several separate tube lines into one tube and thus enable compact, clear and safe parallel routing of different media or functions.

Wire-Integrated Tube

Novoplast Schlauchtechnik offers a wire-embedded tube.
Novoplast Schlauchtechnik offers a wire-embedded tube.

Tubes in which a wire is embedded during extrusion. The wire can heat, conduct or stabilize. If the wire is completely encased, the extruded tube also serves as insulation.

Wire Sheathing

A process similar to wire wrapping, but here an existing tube is covered with another layer of plastic. This is used for protection, to improve the feel or for functional integration.

Round belt

Belts with a round cross-section manufactured as endless goods or suitably deflected. These round belts made of PU are mostly used in mechanical engineering as drive or transport elements.

Similar to wire coating: an additional layer is applied to an entire tube to optimize mechanical properties, chemical resistance or the surface.

What Distinguishes Smooth Tubes from Designs with Fabric Reinforcement?

Single-layer tubes with classic inner and outer geometry. Simple in design, but versatile in use if a basic, functional tube cross-section is sufficient.

Tubes with Functional Strips

Tubes in which functional strips are embedded - e.g. for the identification of various media, for visibility in X-rays or for the integration of conductive strips in industrial environments.

Fittings and Connection Options for Tubes

For complex installation scenarios or specific media routing requirements, smooth-bore tubes can be combined with fittings, adapters, or connectors. This allows technical systems to be adapted to existing installation spaces and process requirements.

In addition to linear tube systems, molded or functionally enhanced designs are also available.
